National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) is a Government of India initiative to promote apprenticeship training. It's one of the most efficient ways to develop skilled manpower for industry by utilizing existing training facilities in establishments.
Apprenticeship Training consists of Basic Training and On-the-Job Training/Practical Training at workplace in the industry.
An apprentice is a person who has entered into a contract of apprenticeship with the employer for apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act.
Clause 7B under the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 as part of Apprenticeship Act, 1961 (amended in 2014), mandates establishments over 40 employees to engage apprentices.
